MiG-29UB jet fighter
Test-fighting two-seater model of a jet fighter was designed for the sake of effectiveness of AF pilots’ training. It was called MiG-29UB. The trainee’s cockpit was installed in front of the instructor’s cockpit which was equipped with control elements, indication system and also with ejection seat K-36DM.
Flight qualities of the two-seater vehicle was the same as the qualities of the one-seated module: with an average takeoff weight (without suspensions) of 14600kg the ultimate speed was 1500km/h and maximum operating overload was 9G, the rate of climb was 330m/s. On the high-level several qualities were reduced: ultimate speed (2230km/h instead of 2450km/h), practical roof (17500m instead of 18000m) and the flight distance (close to the ground 680km instead of 710km; on the high-level 1410 instead of 1430km).
The first flight of the MiG-29UB took place on the 29th, April in 1985.
